HOW TO COMBAT COLLECTIVISM

So I watched G. Edward Griffin talk for more than an hour, agreed with my friend, and now I'll recommend the video to you.

What makes the video worth watching? The answer Griffin gives to the core question: how do we stop and reverse the take-over of the West by collectivists. Collectivists: anyone who puts group rights before individual rights, and favors state control, big government, over individual rights and freedoms. Communists, Leftists, Islamics, and the politically correct come to mind.

The answer to the core question (how do we reverse the collectivist takeover) is simple. We need to take power back one bit at a time, just as they have taken power one bit at a time - one labor union, one town council, one school board, one political representative, one political party, one head of state.

Forget about petitions, letter-writing campaigns, protest marches. Those in power don't care about any of these, no matter how many millions have signed a petition.

So how do we get them to lose power?

Griffin turns to Sun Tzu's The Art of War. People who know themself and the enemy are always victors. People who know either themself or the enemy, lose as often as they win. And people who know neither themself nor the enemy, always lose.

As we have lost just about 100% of the time, it's clear we lack both self-knowledge and knowledge of the enemy. Griffin's assessment rings true. For instance, for most of my life, I didn't know there was an enemy, or that any take-over was happening. So much learning in the past 15 years!

On the other hand, the enemy clearly has self-knowledge and knowledge of us. If you have any doubts, read Diana West's brilliant American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation's Character and Stephen Coughlin's equally brilliant Catastrophic Failure: Blindfolding America in the Face of Jihad.

For many years, despite knowing the enemy, Griffin had no idea how to counter the take-over by collectivists, because he was against power, could only see power negatively.

The breakthrough was his recognition of power as neutral, and his recognition that the only way to oust the collectivists from power was by taking power.

So, his solution:

Know yourself. Know the enemy.

Get hold of power. Reclaim power.

As power corrupts, ensure the structures are strong to protect against this tendency.

Also vital is a freedom ideology - clear, easy to understand. He sees a weakness of the American constitution: while the structure of government is good, it does not explain the reason for the structure - which is largely to limit government, to bind people to a good structure, to block people from using government to do evil.

So he has created a Creed of Freedom.

Griffin makes still another crucial point. We don't need to get a huge percentage of people aware to take back power. The percent he gives - 3%.

Here is what he says:

2002. That was the year the idea found its way into my mind that the leaders of collectivism had conceived a brilliant strategy whereby less than three percent of the population could effectively influence the other ninety-seven percent to do exactly what the three percent wanted. The more I thought about that, the more I began to wonder if that same strategy could be used by those of us who are champions of individualism, which is the opposite of collectivism. The big question was whether the strategy depended on unethical principles, which would put the plan off limits for us.

After studying this strategy at length, I was surprised to find that it was not unethical at all. The objectives of the strategy – such as depriving humans of free will, freedom of choice, privacy, dignity, independence, and all other benefits of a free society – are, to individualists, totally unethical. However, the strategy, itself, by which collectivists gain influence over the population is not unethical. In fact, it is merely based on observations of human nature and, in particular, the observation that people tend to follow leaders.
The tactics that arise from this knowledge have been used in free societies for centuries. The primary difference is that, now, they are professionalized by well-funded organizations who use this knowledge to deceive people into accepting policies that diminish their wealth, health, privacy, and freedom.

If we look strictly at the strategy and not at the objectives of the strategy, we see that the element of deception is the only part that is off limits to us. In fact, rejecting deception is no serious handicap for us, because our end game is freedom, not slavery. Therefore, we have nothing to gain by pretending it is something else.


Who is Griffin, by the way? By 2018, he had spent 58 of his 87 years exploring the takeover of the West by collectivists and coming to his understanding of how to take back power.

PS. Griffin has thought and written on lots more, notably the US Federal Reserve in a best-selling book, The Creature from Jekyll Island. Two major points: "It is the ability of governments to acquire money without direct taxation that makes modern warfare possible, and a central bank has become the preferred method of accomplishing that." Even more important: the central banks are an instrument for totalitarianism. I don't (at present, anyway) know enough about the Federal Reserve and central banks in general to be able to evaluate Griffin's understanding.

I came to know about Dr. Elsa Schieder ("Elsa") through her interviews with Islam experts Robert Spencer, Bill Warner, Citizen Warrior,  and others. Many people were introduced  to Elsa through her highly informative video for children, about Islam. When I came upon Elsa's work (like her great kid's video), I had educated myself on what Islam is, had been galvanised to protest by the horrific slaughter of children in the Manchester bombing, and was also trying to get the truth out on a lot of Facebook sites.
